when should I quit my parttime job if I want summer unemployment for my Florida fulltime job?
Asked by B G
I work five days a week at a school where most employees get unemployment during the summer. I work one day a week at a supermarket. When I file for unemployment, I don't want to mention the supermarket job and decrease my payments. When do I have to quit so it doesn't come into play?

You should be honest and not abuse the system like you are planning to.

Not sure about FL in particular, but in most states, the employers report your earnings to the State unemployment dept each paycheck, so you won't be able to get away w/simply not mentioning the supermarket job--they already know. This would be considered fraud and the State can cut off all future unemployment insurance (if there aren't criminal penalties or fines as well). You need to quit the pt job before you file.
