Fire. I know your question is unique in the sense NO ONE has ever faced this situation before. I truly sympathize with your dilemma. By the way do you you know what I mean by fire. It is a little different from the fire we cook our food on.

If you have a human resources department, talk to them. If not, I would stay out of his way and not get caught up in it.

I was in this exact same position a few years ago. I made my calls and had my meetings, but every chance I had I looked for another job and ended up at a terrific place. Life is short and there are too many sales jobs out there; spend less time selling for this company and more time looking for a new position. I would NOT go to the HR department or his boss -- more often than not you'll find yourself on the street or in a worse predicament. It's your company's job to make sure they have the right manager in place, not yours.

I understand your dilemma, however in the real world the owner of the company DOES IN FACT KNOW what you have found out. Going over your supervisors head will be cutting yours off. If you cannot influence this guy's conscience while working side by side then there is a phrase we use that applies to you both. "Change" people or "change" people. If you can't change this person then simply learn all that you can from this individual both good and bad, then take your skills and integrity else where. Upon receiving your last paycheck hand this manager and the owner a heartfelt (honest) letter of why you quit. It is not your job to make this guy morally sound, however it is your personal responsibility to inform the owner why you simply can't stand by work ethics are ignored on his watch. The cost to recruit and train new sales people must outway the profits this manager brings to the table before he will act. Don't hold your breath-usually greedy people team up until there is an even greedier offer.
