Look at the job description and requirements for the traffic enforcement position. Open up a word document, copy and paste the requirements onto the page, and then for each requirement, match up your own work experience. Find applicability where there is seemingly none. For example, if the job calls for leadership abilities, then you could say how you took on a leadership role at your last job. Even if the jobs aren't similar, the skills you learned are. My mother was a customer service supervisor for a heating and air company. She decided to go into gerontology. She got the education, but she really had no experience in the new field. So, in her cover letter, she explained how her customer service experience would translate to working with the elderly. Also, remember to be honest. What IS the reason that you want to switch careers? Why do you think you'd be good at it?
