How can I become an RN in less than two years?
Asked by Pixie
How can I become an RN in less than two years? I've heard of fast track programs but I can't find any online. Does anyone know? What I really want to do is become a CRNA, but I first need to become an RN. Thanks.

You really can't. Even if you did the LPN route first as someone else suggested - there are still pre-requisite courses which must be completed before going into an RN program, even as an LPN. Two to three years is going to be your minimum. Another person also suggested the accelerated BSN programs - that is only for people who hold a previous bachelor's degree in another field. You then only complete the nursing courses and earn your BSN. This too usually can't be done in much less than 2 years - maybe 12-18 months at the very least if you're killing yourself to get it all done. If you want to be a CRNA, you'll need to put in the time to complete the education just as any other RN would. You'll need a minimum of a bachelor's degree and at least 1-3 years of work experience in an ICU before you can apply to the grad school program for CRNAs, then it will be another 2 years. In all you are looking at 6 years of schooling, minimum.

go to LPN school it takes 10 months, then go to the LPN to RN bridge program this will take another 10 months. Bam your done your an RN; but will only have an AS in nursing. You will have to take the AS to BSN program which takes another year to get your BSN. Before you can go for your CRNA

I doubt there any online nursing programs - you have to do too much with human interaction, labs, etc

There are accelerated programs that you can finish in less than two years but taking the path will make it more difficult to get a RN job when you finish. Hospitals per fer two year programs because there is much more clinical experience. Think about it from an employers point of view, 1 person who got the fastest training as possible in one year or 1 person who got a well rounded training over 2 years, who is going to be more valuable to the hospital/ patients?

To be a CRNA you will need to finish a BSN program first. That takes a minimum of 4 years (no fast track). Then you will need 18 months to 2 years experience in an intensive care setting, but often to get into the intensive care setting at many facilities they want you to work at least 6 months in a medical surgical unit. Then you will need a 28 month CRNA program to complete the MSN. There is no fast track to providing anesthesia.
