A good communication skills both written and verbal plus and art over more than one language.

i work at target and guest service needs to be nice, knowledge of store policy, and it helps if you know where items in the store go. a lot of the guest service people also know the photo lab.

Good phone manners, how to deal with rude customers, knowledge about the product the company is selling, how to answer customer queries/complaints.

A big smile is the best thing to be a success. Later you will know the inventory because everyone stops at the desk to ask where the items are. People will be complaining to you a lot. If you can handle it, start tomorrow..
