RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR (FULL-TIME)

Over the course of 35 years, Chestnut has grown to over 700 committed, compassionate employees providing care at multiple substance abuse and mental health treatment centers in Central and Southern Illinois. Chestnut also conducts research and training throughout the U.S., as well as provides employee assistance programs internationally.

The Adolescent Chemical Dependency Treatment Program has been providing chemical dependency treatment services for young people between 12 and 18 years old since 1985. Our staff of primary therapists, residential counselors, nurses, and recreational therapists care about young people and are committed to helping them learn to live sober lives. We believe every young person has a chance for a better life without drugs and that all adolescents long to be valued members of families and communities. The program has an opportunity for second shift, working as a full-time Residential Counselor with adolescent males.

Qualifications include:

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License
• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or its’ equivalent.
• Must be available to work weekends, with preferred availability for trainings, working other shifts and working days.
• Experience working with adolescent substance abuse (alcohol and other drugs) preferred.
• Must display an interest and ability to work with youth effectively.
• Good oral and written communication skills required.

Duties include:

• Monitoring clients.
• Assisting clients with daily programs.
