Location and team
Macro Corporation, a KEMA Company, is seeking an experienced, self-motivated professional to provide consulting services related to technology integration within public safety land mobile radio and wireless data environments for agencies within the United States. This fulltime position requires the successful candidate to be working from our Oakland, CA office.

Tasks may include:

  • Analyze current systems and operations methodologies
  • Assess user needs
  • Model information flow(s)
  • Develop alternative conceptual system designs
  • Identify costs
  • Perform trade-off analyses
  • Prepare procurement specifications and supporting RFP material
  • Evaluate vendor solutions
  • Manage implementations
  • Validate testing results
  • Orchestrate system and user migration

What we're asking:

Position responsibilities stipulate professional, engineering, or other public safety experience with these systems and processes:

• P25 conventional and trunked voice and data radio systems
• Standards and architectures for interoperable solutions
• RF propagation engineering for both analog and digital communications systems
• Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave radio systems
• Public safety paging and alerting
• Private and commercial wide-area mobile data systems or services
• FCC regulatory issues associated with private voice and data systems
• Termination facilities; and ancillary systems
• Support systems such as back-up generators, battery and UPS backup power communication equipment shelters, and tower structures
• Computer based engineering tools and applications

Typical projects require that the candidate exercise proficiency in formalized project management methods, including planning and scheduling; cost control; risk and change order management; scope, schedule, budget, and quality management; project staffing; and status reporting in customer-required formats.

Successful applicants must have:

  • Eexcellent oral, writing, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel about 20-25% of the time
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent
  • 10+ years of leadership responsibility pertaining to operations and wireless voice and data systems in law enforcement and other public safety organizations or with a system supplier.
  • Advanced degrees, accreditations, or law enforcement certifications are desirable.
  • A Professional Engineer's license and prior consulting experience are strongly preferred.


This is a U.S.-based position; applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S.
